I Fermioni sono 4 diversi tipi di particelle di materia: elettroni, up/down quark e neutrini, (ma esistono tutte anche in 2 versioni alternative più pesanti) che interagiscono con i Bosoni: fotoni per il campo elettromagnetico, gluoni per le interazioni nucleare forti, i Bosoni W e Z per le interazioni nucleari deboli. Questi rappresentano 3 campi di forza, c'è poi la gravità, che però ancora non quadra. Tutto questo è legato trasversalmente con il Bosone di Higgs.
