John Bauer non e' molto famoso, un naufragio fatale gli ha impedito di proseguire con la sua arte, ma la sua influenza si e' irradiata a molti altri illustratori del calibro di Arthur Rackam, Gustav Tenggren, Edmund Dulac e Kay Nielsen, fino ad arrivare a Jim Henson ("The Dark Crystal").
