Hoppity Goes to Town è un po' "A Bug's Life" ma realizzato decenni prima dai Fratelli Fleischer. Il film, uscito poco dopo l'attacco a Pearl Harbour, fu un flop, anche perchè lontano dalle atmosfere fiabesche di "Biancaneve" di Walt Disney che avevano influenzato il pubblico.

Ma è il realismo del mondo coerente nel quale si muovono i personaggi che ha fatto dire ad Hayao Miyazaki che questo era il suo film preferito. La pellicola ha influenzato molto "Il Castello di Cagliostro".
